A Turkish hamam bathed in aqua light under a myriad of stars..... A Botticelli-like Venus mermaid dusted in soap powder..... A mischievous cat swinging from a trapeze.... This all comes from the fertile space of the creative mind of my then four year old daughter. So, I have borrowed her beautiful image and translated it into this painting. https://fishdreaming.com/collections/art/products/mermaid
"And she saw upon the wide highway The figure of a knight; He rode upon a dappled steed, And all his arms were bright. He met her in a garden where sweet marjoram combined With azure violets a scent that ravished every wind. The musk and jasmine mingled in leaf and branch and flower. Building about the lovers a cool and scented bower."
Most of the components started life out as a block of blue wax. I then carve them into various shapes, (which often takes quite a bit of time!) They are then cast in pewter and either silver, brass or copper plated with an antique finish. Many of the pieces have pigmented resin in selected recessed areas like the blue eye in the centre of this pendant. The process is exciting as it progresses.....something from nothing!
